May 05   National Day of Prayer Observance

National Day of Prayer
Thursday, May 5, 2016
6:00pm

It’s time to “Wake Up America” and pray for our nation!

Everybody is invited and strongly encouraged to attend our community’s observance of the 65th annual National Day of Prayer, a very special event sponsored by the Libby Evangelical Association of Pastors (LEAP).

Held every first Thursday of May, the National Day of Prayer welcomes people of all faiths, political affiliations, and ethnic backgrounds in America to pray for our nation and bring light and hope to our country through the power of prayer!

This year’s theme, very fittingly, is “Wake Up America” based on the bible verse Isaiah 58:1 which reads “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet.”

For more information, please visit the official website of the National Day of Prayer at http://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/. This resource is presented by the National Day of Prayer Task Force, a non-profit organization that administers, promotes, and coordinates this nation-wide event.

Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser
Friday, May 6, 2016

The Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley is the driving force behind numerous worthwhile community projects. They are your neighbors, community leaders, and global citizens working together to improve our community and create lasting positive change in the world.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley hosts this distinctive fundraising event that features exceptional wine from around the world paired with fine food prepared by local acclaimed caterers. This year, attendees can indulge in the tasting of six sophisticated wines along with a memorable meal provided by talented chef, Manon Hughes.

Among the Annual Wine Tasting festivities is a dynamic mix of events including a live auction, a silent auction, great raffle prizes and door prizes, live piano music, and fabulous fellowship.

Proceeds from this fundraiser support several on-going projects including those that provide recreational opportunities for our community’s youth, various scholarships for Libby and Troy high school students, the administration of Rotary Basketball for our local athletes, support for community-based projects including the Libby Food Pantry, Koats for Kids and Family Day in the Park.

This list only makes up a small fraction of what the dedicated volunteers of the Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley have accomplished as they gathered together bringing their time, talents, and skills, whatever the economic ups and downs, to strengthen our communities.

Tickets are available for purchase at The Venture Inn, Windows Doors & More, and Booze-n-Bait in Troy.

Experience the Libby Dam Disc Golf Course by following these driving directions from Libby: from the Kootenai River Bridge at the edge of downtown Libby, drive 13.5 miles north on Hwy 37 alongside the scenic Kootenai River. After turning left onto National Forest Develop Road 228 and continuing for 3.5 miles, follow Souse Gulch Road for .2 miles. The Visitor Center is located in the Souse Gulch day use area.

Father's Day Weekend Fishing Derby
June 18 & 19, 2016

Hey kids! Do you want a fun way to celebrate Father’s Day? It’s easy! Grab your pole, fishing gear, and good ol’ dad and head on out to the Kickin’ Horse for a weekend of fishing derby fun! With categories just for the anglers-in-training and the traditional adult categories, every fisherman/fisherwoman can compete for cash prizes just by fishing the cool waters of the Lower Thompson Lake for pike, salmon, trout, and perch. To add to the excitement of the weekend, there will also be 50/50 drawings both days.

The $20.00 entry fee will be allocated in the following manner: $14.00 will be reserved for winning contestants, $3.00 will be donated to Center for Asbestos Related Diseases (Libby CARD Clinic), while $3.00 will help fund the Fish, Wildlife, and Parks fishing contest permit fee.

Aug 22   Montana Shakespeare In the Parks
Montana Shakespeare In the Parks
Live Theatrical Performance
~Richard III~

Montana Shakespeare In the Parks will perform William Shakespeare’s masterpiece Richard III, written sometime between 1591 and 1593. Considered a tragedy, this historical play captures the rise and fall of King Richard III, who ruled England from 1483 to his death in 1485.

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, a nationally recognized outreach program of the College of Arts and Architecture at Montana State University in Bozeman, is the only fully professional touring theatre program in the state that offers all performances free to the public, guaranteeing accessibility and availability to all.

Since 1973, this organization has brought its live theatrical productions of Shakespeare and other classics to underserved, rural communities throughout Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Washington, and Idaho each and every summer.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket to the grassy expanse in front of the amphitheater and a picnic meal to enjoy while watching this highly anticipated performance.

Fully sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kootenai Valley.
THANK YOU Rotary Club of

Libby Community Farmers Market
~2016~

The Libby Community Farmers Market is much more than your traditional farmers market. Not only do local vendors display an inviting array of fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and plants during the growing season, but in recent years, a number of artisans have joined the farmers and planters offering home-made baked goods, handcrafted items, unique jewelry, and other art objects.

Make plans to come down to the Libby Chamber of Commerce parking lot and join this great small town tradition every Thursday afternoon from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
